Is a R/E Sliver tank possible?
I checked around the forums, but didn't find anything about it. So here is the question.
Is it possible to go R/E Sliver tank in lets say UW? For chaos planes for example.
I know the E/Me sliver tank uses Mantra of Earth to consume up the dmg.
On the ranger it is possible to actually keep up the energy with Storm chaser+stone striker right?
So what i'm looking at right now would be...
Wilderness survival: 12+1+1
Earth Magic: 12
Expertise: 3
[/skill]Storm Chaser[/skill]
[skill]Stone Striker[/skill]
[skill]Obsidian Flesh[/skill]
[skill]Glyph of Swiftness[/skill] / [skill]Serpents Quickness[/skill]
[skill]Armor of Earth[/skill]
[skill]Sliver Armor[/skill]
[skill]Trolls Unguent[/skill]
[skill]Stoneflesh Aura[/skill]
Cuz Rangers DO have more armor than eles do, Meaning that the mantra of earth won't be that important. Putting up stoneflesh+obsidian+armor of earth should tank up enough to keep your ass alive.
So my question is, if that build is possible, have you tried it and if it is capable of tanking the Mindblade specters in UW (for example).
If this has been stated somewhere before, sorry. But search didn't turned anything up.
Cheers.

Sure I used ranger OF tank for UW with no problem.
Quoting myself is kinda awkward lol.

Constant OF, base 100 armor, infinite energy (you only need to use storm chaser for a few seconds but need to be carful not to break SQ chain :P )

You could tweak it to fit silver armor, cause I only used it for pure tanking.

Yep, ranger makes a great earth tank, second only to primary eles due to the recent storm chaser buff. Although you can't keep up a perm OF without serpent's quickness (it's down 1 3/4 seconds with glyph of swiftness) the ranger can have alot more armor due to their natural 100vs. Ele armor. And they out class warriors because of theor built in e-management.

A tank eliminates not only the need for a competent team, but if played right, the need for more than one support/healer slot. So a tank is not actualy wasting a slot on your team, and should provide a huge boost in effeciency for any AoE damage your team decides to take.

It's plausible
but you have to remember that with 12 earth magic you won't be able to maintain stoneflesh or obsidian flesh.
maybe if you used serpent's quickness AND glyph of swiftness, but that gets hard becuse you must worry about timing with serpent's quickness and storm chaser.
There was an old solo FoW ele build that used storm chaser for energy and it sure was tricky, not to mention with a ranger you have a lower energy pool and you wouldn't be able to go very long without putting stormchaser up.
good luck working out the kinks
one last note:
stone striker will not always work for the chaos plains
description is elemental and physical damage convert
not chaos dmg ><

Chaos damage is converted. Stone Striker's description is buggy, read more here:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Stone_Striker
It says that it coverts ALL damage, not just elemental/physical. It coverts also dark/shadow and holy damage to Earth.

That's what I mean by "will not always work for the chaos plains" it will be fixed someday...
I know the skill is bugged...did you even read my thread about using heroes to get you to the valuable soloing places in the UW?

Uhm. Why not always work, if it DOES convert chaos damage? So you want it not to convert?

Are you suggesting that when anet realizes that the bug allows people to solo the chaos plains that they will just change the skill description to match its actual characteristics?
I doubt that, I would think they would change its characteristics to match the description and make it a little harder to use...

yes, but they haven't yet. time to take advantage. look at Prot Spirit - it reduces Vile touch's damage, and it doesn't say it should. ANet hasn't touched that anomaly for two years, and i don't think they will. likewise, i don't think Striker's functionality is getting "fixed" any time in the near future. ANet's too busy with GW2.

yeah, Anet has dozens of skills with minor description or functionality issues. Sometimes they'll surprise us by fixing one or two in a random update, but I realy wouldn't count on any particular skill getting fixed, as there's a very small chance of it actualy happening.

IDK if you got the hint, but the last post saying exactly that was deleted. Maybe you should post something constructive or find a new place to troll.
